Change or recover your cPanel password

This procedure concerns your cPanel sign-in. It is separate from recovering your Nuagerie Client Area, a mailbox or WordPress. If you are unsure, start with our guide to identifying the right account.

Change a password you know

  1. Open the correct account using the secure cPanel access guide. Check the service and username before continuing.
  2. Find Password & Security under preferences, if the feature is available. Depending on the interface version, a password change may also be offered in Account Preferences.
  3. Enter the current password if the form requests it, then the new password and its confirmation. Choose a long, unique password generated and stored in a password manager, meeting the requirements shown.
  4. Check that the new password is saved in your manager, then submit with Change your password now! or the confirmation button provided. Check the success message and then test your sign-in.

If you are signed in as a cPanel team member, the change concerns your own user. Do not assume it changes the main account or other people’s access.

Check the affected connections

Update tools that actually use the changed cPanel credentials, such as a file-transfer connection configured with that account. Separate FTP accounts have their own passwords. The system mailbox associated with cPanel uses the same credentials as cPanel.

This change does not reset separate mailboxes created within the account, your Client Area user or your WordPress users. For a mailbox hosted in cPanel, use our mailbox management guide. Do not change unrelated credentials at random if an application stops working.

If you forgot the password

At the confirmed HTTPS cPanel sign-in address, use Reset Password only if the option is available. It depends on the service configuration and an accessible cPanel contact email address. Follow the instructions and keep the same browser session throughout the process.

If the option is missing, the message does not arrive or you no longer control the recovery address, open a request in your Client Area. If you also lost that access, use our contact form. Identity verification may be required.

Never include a password, temporary code or password-reset link in the request. If you suspect an intrusion, explain the circumstances: changing a password alone does not review all access or resolve the underlying incident.
