A task left behind after an agent or policy is removed may need investigation. Its name alone does not establish that it is unnecessary: it may still relate to retention, verification or data recovery.
Identify dependencies
- Record the manager version, task identifier and associated policy.
- Check the agents, data sets and recovery points that depend on it.
- Review running tasks and their latest known results.
- Confirm retention requirements before removing data or a policy.
Prepare a targeted removal
Retain a recoverable configuration copy and the information needed to reverse the change. Use the vendor-supported function for the installed version. If a special repair is required, have support validate its scope before running a script or stopping the service.
Do not download an old deletion script over HTTP or modify the manager’s database using a generic example. Removing a task, an agent and a backup have different effects.
Check the result
Verify that only the intended entries disappeared, retained tasks work and expected recovery points remain available. Document the result in the maintenance record.
For a Nuagerie-managed environment, open a request with the message and context, without including secrets or a complete backup in the ticket.
