What happens once my domain expires?

  • 0

Once your domain expires, it immediately ceases to resolve on the Internet until it is renewed. While the exact dates may vary depending on the domain type, most domain types managed under ICANN (including .com/net/quebec domains) follow the following domain lifecycle:

  1. Upon domain expiration, domain ceases to resolve on the Internet. Domain may still be renewed and re-activated at its regular price.
  2. 40 days after domain expiration, domain enters Redemption state and can no longer be renewed at its regular rate
  3. 70 days after expiration, Redemption period ends, and domain enters Pending Delete state.
  4. 75 days after expiration, domain is deleted from the registry, and normally becomes available once again for general registration

You may verify the availability of your domain name from Nuagerie's Domain Name search page.
