A CNAME record is utilized to map an alias name to a true domain name (often known as a canonical domain name). They're normally used to map a subdomain (for example, blog.mydomain.com) to another domain name that actually holds the content.

From the customer's point of view, everything looks as if the domain name referenced in the CNAME record (store.domain.com) is hosting the web content, although it is being hosted somewhere else. You can develop a CNAME record using My cPanel in the Nuagerie Dashboard.

Creating a CNAME record

1. Log in to your Nuagerie Dashboard and pick My cPanel from the navigation bar at the top of the page.
2. In the Domains area, choose Zone Editor.
3. At the bottom of the display, select the +Add CNAME Record link.
4. In the panel that shows up, go into your desired subdomain and the desired destination domain name the CNAME record should point to.
   1. Note that when you enter your subdomain, cPanel automatically adds a period at the end (if you haven't done so). This is required for your CNAME record to be correctly formatted.
5. Click the Add a CNAME Record to proceed.
6. You should see a notification that tells you the CNAME document has been successfully created.

Managing your CNAME record

1. If you want to check out the CNAME record, head back to the My cPanel menu and choose Zone Editor.
2. As soon as the Zone Editor page opens up, choose Manage.
3. Scroll down the checklist of documents until you see your CNAME record.
4. Utilize the Edit or Delete symbols to handle the record.
