Grow your hosting: optimize, change plans or consider a VPS

A growing website does not automatically need a VPS. The right decision depends on the resource you need, how the application works and the responsibilities you want your team or Nuagerie to handle. The goal is to support your business with a suitable solution, without paying for capacity that does not address the problem.

Start with requirements and measurements

Explain what is changing: more orders, an advertising campaign, heavier processing, several websites or a new application. Record affected functions and periods of slow performance. Use our guide to view account resource usage and compare measurements with errors and recent changes.

A single spike or a slow website does not prove that a plan is inadequate. A faulty plugin, expensive query or slow external service may explain the symptom. Conversely, limits repeatedly reached during legitimate activity can justify additional capacity.

Compare three options

  • Optimize the existing setup. If inefficient processing is responsible, investigate the application, caching and scheduled tasks. Our guide to reducing resource usage offers a gradual approach. For WordPress, also see our slow-site and LiteSpeed Cache troubleshooting guide.
  • Choose a more suitable hosting plan. This may fit an application that remains compatible with the platform but needs more capacity. Compare the resource actually needed, not only disk space or the plan name. Review your service limits and current hosting options with our team.
  • Assess a VPS or a tailored infrastructure. Particular software, persistent services, architectural requirements or a need for system control may justify another environment. Its configuration, capacity and management arrangements should be defined for your project.

A virtual server alone does not guarantee better performance, absolute isolation or a secure application. Hardware, allocated resources, storage, networking and configuration matter. More memory will not necessarily fix a code defect or a slow external request.

Agree on operational responsibilities

Before choosing infrastructure, establish who handles operating-system and application updates, access, firewalls, monitoring, incidents and backups. The AWS shared responsibility model illustrates why cloud infrastructure still leaves tasks with the customer, depending on the selected service.

A management service can cover some of these tasks; confirm its scope. Compare the full cost of infrastructure, licensing, backups, traffic, administration and application maintenance. Specify the data protected, retention, restoration options and who validates recovery tests.

Prepare the change and verify the outcome

Agree on objectives, expected capacity and change conditions before proceeding. If migration is needed, arrange a usable backup, email continuity, DNS, certificates and a rollback approach that accounts for new data. Our WordPress migration guide explains those checks.

After the change, test important customer journeys and compare measurements under similar conditions. Discuss your project with Nuagerie: we can assess optimization opportunities, hosting and cloud management options with you, then establish assistance appropriate to your needs.
