This guide concerns a separate mailbox hosted in cPanel. If your email uses Microsoft 365, Google Workspace or another provider, reset the password through that service. Your Nuagerie Client Area password is separate from your mailbox password: our account access guide helps you identify the right account.
Prepare for the change
Check the complete address you need to update and the devices or applications using it: phone, computer, email software or an application authorized to send through this mailbox. Plan to update their credentials afterward. If several people currently use the address, coordinate the change with the person responsible for email.
Choose a long, unique password and keep it in a password manager. Follow the requirements shown in the form. You do not need to delete a mailbox to replace a forgotten password; deleting the account would also remove its messages.
Change the password through cPanel
This procedure requires authorized access to the hosting account that manages the mailbox. Labels can vary with the interface and available features.
- Open the appropriate cPanel account, then Email Accounts.
- Find the exact address and select Manage. Check the mailbox name again before making a change.
- Under Security, enter the new password or use the supplied generator. Save it in your password manager without leaving it visible in a shared screenshot.
- Submit with Update Email Settings, or the equivalent confirmation button. Check the success message.
The system mailbox associated with the cPanel account is an exception: it uses the cPanel credentials. For that account, see the cPanel password procedure. To create or manage a separate mailbox, use the email account guide.
Update your devices and verify access
- Open the HTTPS Webmail address confirmed for your service and test a new sign-in with the full email address and new password. An already open session is not enough to validate the new credentials.
- Update each application. Some software stores incoming-server and outgoing SMTP passwords separately. Use the settings for this mailbox, as explained in our email configuration guide.
- Send a harmless test to another address you control, then reply to check both directions.
If an application keeps requesting the password, check the selected account, saved older values and settings before making repeated attempts. Do not remove the email profile without checking where its messages and archives are stored.
If access is lost or you suspect an intrusion
If you cannot open cPanel, follow its recovery procedure or contact Nuagerie through your Client Area. If that access is also unavailable, use our contact form. Provide the service, affected address and error, without sending a password or temporary code. Our team can guide you through the appropriate access checks.
If you notice unfamiliar messages or account changes, report them and follow the first steps for a suspected compromise. Changing a password does not establish that all unauthorized sessions, rules or integrations have been removed.
