TuxCare documents a procedure for replacing Ksplice with KernelCare on a supported kernel. This is a server administration task: check kernel compatibility and licensing before changing its patching system.
The official script uninstalls Ksplice and then installs KernelCare. Read the vendor prerequisites and arrange a backup and an appropriate maintenance window. The procedure can stop if the Ksplice components cannot be removed; do not assume every migration will complete without interruption.
With administrator (root) access, download the script into a private working directory, then review its contents before running it:
wget https://patches.kernelcare.com/ksplice2kcareFor a key-based licence, replace _YOUR_KERNELCARE_KEY_ with your licence key and run:
bash ksplice2kcare _YOUR_KERNELCARE_KEY_Alternatively, for an IP-based licence already assigned to this server, run:
bash ksplice2kcare IPThe script checks for the two letters "IP" and assumes an IP licence in that case.
The full log file can be found at:
/var/log/ksplice2kcare.log
Full documentation is available in the official procedure for switching from Ksplice.
