KernelCare

I'm switching from Ksplice to KernelCare, should I restart?

Do not assume that a reboot will never be needed. Completing the migration depends on factors including kernel compatibility and the removal of Ksplice components.

TuxCare’s official procedure uses a migration script that attempts to remove Ksplice before installing KernelCare. If the module cannot be removed, review the log and have the administrator determine the next step instead of forcing removal.

Our Ksplice-to-KernelCare migration guide covers prerequisites, commands and the log to check. Allow an appropriate maintenance window; if your situation requires a reboot, plan it before proceeding.
